Les' Bio

Les is originally from Salina, Kansas and is a graduate of Kansas State University. He performs his one-man show all over the world --on cruise ships, at resorts, and concert venues. Featuring everything from Queen to Swing to Les Miserables, his show routinely gets rousing standing ovations wherever he goes. Les is heavily influenced by some of the world’s legendary swing/jazz vocalists including Mel Torme’, Nat King Cole, Harry Connick Jr., and of course, Frank Sinatra. In November 2005, Les joined the cast of "The Rat Pack is Back" in Las Vegas, Nevada as Frank Sinatra. The show is a HUGE hit and has just recently moved downtown to the newly renovated Plaza Hotel and Casino.
Les' career began in theatre. Some of Les’ favorite theatrical roles include the PHARAOH in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Les spent a good two years of his life performing "Joseph..." around the country, including the National Tour and the prominent dinner theater, The Fireside, in Wisconsin. He also starred Off Broadway at the Judith Anderson Theater in New York City as another pharaoh in the Off-Broadway musical "Moses, My Love". Recently he appeared as Pilate --a role he has long wanted to play-- in a concert version of "Jesus Christ Superstar". Les has appeared in various t.v. and film projects over the years, but all of his work in this medium has yet to be topped by his favorite film experience...working alongside Robert Redford as his bodyguard in the Dreamworks film "The Last Castle".
The year 2006 was a very busy year for Les. He was a featured artist at the Smoky Hill River Festival in Salina, Kansas in May. Prior to that Les brought his hit solo show "Les Lankhorst LIVE!" back home to Salina, Kansas for two SOLD OUT NIGHTS at the Salina Community Theatre. Due to the huge success, he brought it back, but this time to the historic Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts (formally the Fox Theatre) for ONE NIGHT ONLY on Friday, July 7th, at 8:00pm! The show was another giant success. Directly following his shows in Salina Les went to Raleigh, North Carolina and premiered a show with his friend and Broadway actress Jennifer Shrader called "Meet Me at the Corner of Broadway and Swing" at the Kennedy Theatre at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The show and the colaboration was again a HUGE box office and critical success.

At the top of 2007 Les headlined with The Guy Lombardo Orchestra and had a special appearance with members of the Acapulco Orchestra doing his solo show for the citywide annual tourism conference at the world famous Las Brisas resort in Acapulco. In addition, he returned to Salina in May '07 to sing with the Salina Symphony in a sold out tribute to the music of The Big Bands. Les is fresh off of performances at his alma mater, Kansas State University for the Beach Museum of Art, and a successful run at the Blumenthal Theatre in Charlotte, NC as FRANK in the Rat Pack is Back. Last Christmas Les SOLD OUT three nights of his brand new Christmas show I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS in Salina, KS. and he will be returning in 2008 to do the show again at the Salina Community Theatre. Get your tix now!

In addition to his performing he recently has added Consulting and Directing to his already filled resume. He will be consulting his old show choir, The K-State Singers, starting in the fall of 2008 and he has been working as a director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, helping them install a series of Cabaret shows on their Ships.

There is more to come on Les, so come back often!
